Fred J.

I was homeless when I walked into the “Y”. I walked down the stairs to the basket room and asked Mr. Webb if I could go swimming. I opened up about my situation and at the conclusion of our talk I had a job and a roof over my head thanks to Mr. Webb and Mr. Morehead. From there Mr. Thomas gave me $.15 to catch the bus to sign up for Job Corps and I could not get to the office fast enough. When I graduated from Job Corps, I went straight into the Army at age 17. From school dropout to college professor by way of the United States Army and 17 years as a high school teacher with a Masters Degree in Business administration and several books published. This and more came by way of Hayes Taylor YMCA.
